Help Brock & Connor Marvin Make A Great Save
Helping Brock & Connor....
Thank you so much for taking the time and heart to connect to this site.
In April of 2008 Brock Marvin had a heart attack and was life-flighted to Fletcher Allen Hospital, in Burlington, Vermont. We are very fortunate to say that this vibrant, athletic 14 year old survived this life threatening attack. We now need your help in the next step in Brock's courageous battle.
EVALUATION
Brock has a defective heart that has been genetically transferred: Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Brock has been going back and forth to Boston Children's Hospital and Fletcher Allen Hospital to track his progress. The family has quickly learned that each day/month his health changes: sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Therefore, we try our best not to assume anything. There is a chance he may beable to undergo The Stem Cell Procedure, but will probably at some point will have to have a Heart Transplant.
Brock's 13 year old brother, Connor Marvin, was recently diagnosed with the same heart disease.
We have been researching all options for both of the boys.
STEM CELL TRANSPLANT
We have been diligently looking into stem cell research. This is a procedure of drawing stem cells out of his blood and reproducing more healthy stem cells and injecting them back into his weak heart. Research shows that these healthy cells will help heal and strengthen the heart. We have spoken to a couple of patients that have had it done and are overwhelmed by the impressive results.
If beneficial, we would like to have this procedure done for one or both of the boys. Since the summer of 2008, we have been fundraising to raise money for this procedure or any other that wouldn't be covered by insurance. Since this is a rare, uninsured treatment and the medical expenses exceed $60,000, we are desperately looking for assistance.
